Chapter on multimodal argumentation

In this chapter, Jean Wagemans introduces the Multimodal Argument Type Identification Procedure (MATIP), a new method for identifying argument types in multimodal contexts. An important advantage of this method is that there is no need to translate non-verbal elements into verbal ones. By leveraging the Periodic Table of Arguments framework, the chapter demonstrates how the MATIP facilitates cross-modal analysis, illustrated through an analysis of a sample dual-code argument that combines verbal and visual components.
